We have a position for a Senior Nurse specialised in complex care and high dependency.
You will be running a brand new unit in West London, caring for patients with low awareness and coma due to trauma, brain damage and tracheostomy.
Hours of work: 36 hours per week over a 5 day period and will include shifts, evenings, weekends and on call.
Position will close as soon as we find the right person.
The new unit will admit working age patients (18-65 years) with complex care needs.
Your general duties will include:
1. To develop and manage the service to patients with low awareness and complex care needs.
2. To oversee and direct the nurses and care staff all the time.
3. To undertake overall management and support patients families and friends.
4. To communicate with all the health care professionals who are in the unit.
Vital requirements:
A. Registered Nurse Levels 1 with current PIN number.
B. At least two years’ experience in the care of patients with low awareness and coma due to trauma and brain damage and tracheostomy.
C. At least two years’ ward management experience.
D. Must have up to date clinical knowledge and practice in the care of patients with coma and low awareness especially post acute services.
E. Must be fully competent in the use of equipment associated with this patient group – Tracheostomy, Enteral feeding, Ventilators & Oxygen Concentrators.
F. NVQ Assessors Award D32/33 or a willingness to work towards attaining this qualification is an advantage
